I have noticed that sometimes a single Windows > Asterisk combination key press will expand everything in one press. If you want to collapse everything again, just double left-click the Inbox folder. Importing from PST can lead to duplication of folders/messages, as you say.įor Outlook 365, you will notice another option besides Import/Export, to just "Open an Outlook data file" - this would allow you to browse the file for specific items, but the operation would need to be performed each time you wanted to look at the file, whereas the Import option permanently brings items over.I was asked the other day if there was a way to expand all the Outlook Inbox folders without clicking each one separately. Then open Outlook on your new computer, and the exact next steps will depend on your version of Outlook on the new computer. pst files, and take note of the location of the PST. Outlook can save the expand/collapse state of your groups but doesnt do this for all views by default. You can search your external drive for any. For earlier versions, the default location is C:/users/username/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook (which is sometimes hidden by default). What version of Outlook were you using when you backed up the PST file to the external hard drive? If it was Outlook 2013+, the default location of the PST file is C:/users/username/Documents/Outlook Files.
